Gold ends March with its worst monthly slide since 2008 despite late rebound
Bullion recovered near month-end, but March still marked its steepest monthly decline since October 2008 as inflation fears and high-rate expectations dominated trading.
Gold bounced on March 31, yet persistent inflation concerns and the prospect of rates staying higher for longer kept the metal under pressure throughout the month. The move underscored how sensitive bullion remains to interest-rate expectations even when safe-haven demand is present.
